We, as a people, are the sum total of all of those who have come before us. For good and bad, we are the products of our forefathers, our fathers, and our brothers. At OSleeper, this legacy is something we take very seriously and something we want to honor on this day, Veterans day.
When the dream that is OSleeper MFG Co. began to form, the team discussed how we could be a blessing, both abroad and here at home. We looked around at those who had been marginalized and forgotten, and unfortunately, we saw a group that deserves a life time's worth of gratitude.
Every member of OSleeper is extra sensitive to this truth because we all have Fathers, Grandfathers, and Brothers (pictured and honored below) that served this country. They have received only a fraction of the honor which they have bravely and dutifully earned.
So we want to honor our brothers and sisters at arms. We could tweet out “thank you” with a hashtag, but we would rather show our gratitude in a much more tangible way. We want to create a solution at the core of our business to honor our veterans service. At OSleeper we are actively trying to hire veterans who have come home from war and are in need of a job.
It only makes sense right? Help those who have served us by guarding our freedom. Give to those who have given more than we could have ever asked. When we see a serviceman or women come back home from deployment to civilian life without a plethora of employment options offered to them, we see a travesty.
The men pictured below, our legacy, taught us that no man is the center of this universe. That we have neighbors that need to be protected and served, both domestically and internationally. That sometimes the hard things are the right things. And that a life given to service is one worth hanging your hat on. So we plan on doing just that.
Would you join us? Today that looks like buying a piece of furniture or hand crafted good as we will be donating 20% of the proceeds for the rest of this week to the Wounded Warrior Project. In the coming months that could look like connecting us with veterans in need of a job. It could look like a veteran with time to simply create something rather than wage war. We long to see veterans come home to a community of grateful people who are here to support them and see them thrive.
The dream that we have is to flex the muscle of commerce to Awaken. Impact. Today we hope to do just that, in the memory of those veterans that have come before us and laid this groundwork for us. Would you join us?
